DOCTOR ORTEGA

ABUSE UNDER THE GUISE OF MEDICAL CARE

Attorney Parker Stinar has represented hundreds of survivors of sexual abuse under the guise of medical care and has participated in nearly $900 million in settlements on behalf of those survivors.

Abuse under the guise of medical care takes many different forms. Whether an extended physical examination, an unnecessary examination of a private part of the body, or an extended physical examination, our experienced attorneys are here to help and hold abusers, including Dr. Fabio Ortega, and the medical facilities that enabled his abuse accountable.

In September of 2018, Dr. Ortega was arrested and charged with criminal sexual assault. The arrest was based on allegations of sexual assault by a patient he saw in 2017 in his Skokie office. Following the 2018 arrest, many brave survivors came forward, reporting similar experiences of sexual abuse, resulting in additional charges against Dr. Ortega. Ultimately, he was sentenced to three years in prison by Cook County Circuit Judge Anjana Hansen, and Illinois State regulators suspended his license to practice medicine.

Allegations of sexual assault by Dr. Ortega span numerous decades and at multiple Chicago-land medical facilities, including Swedish Hospital and NorthShore University Health System.
